Draws and Schedule

<a The draws and schedule have been posted. As always, things could change, but if anything does change with your draw you will be notified by text message.

Draws- Everyone will play 2 matches on Friday, 2 matches on Saturday, and 1 match on Sunday. All matches are regular scoring, with a 10 point tiebreaker for the 3rd set.

The times listed for the matches are ESTIMATES. You could play anywhere from 30 mins before to 15 mins after the listed time. We really try to stay right on time if not early with all of our draws, but sometimes mother nature, or long matches affect that. So, with that, all players must arrive (and be ready to play) a minimum of 30 minutes before their listed start time.

After the first match, all players should go directly to their court assigned on the draw sheets. If your designated court or another court is available and we are within the 15 minutes of your estimated match time and you or your partner are not present we will start the default clock of 15 mins.

Arrive at the tournament desk a minimum of 30 minutes early for your first match on Friday. Come to the check in desk for your player packs and picture. It is the player's responsibility to keep track of their match times. We will be happy to assist, but whatever is posted on the RacquetWar.com website are the official times.

Practice-Warm Up Courts will not be available.

Limit your warm up time to 5 mins. Keep your Change over times to 3 mins max. Play tennis… chit chat after the matches

Location

El Conquistador - Located on the northern fringes of Tucson, this conference-oriented 500-acre retreat has a long history of enthusiasm for tennis, as witnessed by its exceptionally large complex of hard courts—16 courts at the hotel. In 2012, the USTA presented it with an Outstanding Facility Award, following some $900,000 in improvements to the resort court complex, which also has a bleachered stadium. Because of its size and facilities, the El Conquistador has hosted numerous national and sectional tennis events.

Players may sign up as individuals. We will match up these players together and form teams.

Local players…we don’t want to leave you out! We understand it might be tough to pay for an event like ours playing on courts you frequent or call home. We also understand the value of having local players at our events and how much more successful we can be with you. If you are local, shoot us an email and let us know. We will send you a promotional code to save you some money. We look forward to sharing our passion with you.

Refund Policy

Full refunds are given up to four weeks prior to the event. If withdrawal is made within 4 weeks but before the draws are posted a 50% refund will be given. Once the draws have been posted or we are within two weeks of the tournament there are no refunds whatsoever. We are all fully aware of the impact COVID is having on all of us emotionally, physically and financially. Racquet War is not absolved. As much as we would love to be able to give you a full of even partial refund if you test positive for COVID, we are no longer doing this. Please keep this in mind when you register. IF we can replace you without cost to us, we will do our best to accommodate.

Rain & Defaults

"Unfortunately, Racquet War cannot control Mother Nature. In all the years we have been running our events, there has only been one weekend completely cancelled due to weather. Amelia Island, FL (2017) was disrupted by Hurricane Irma. But from time to time, we encounter rain that delays us for a couple of hours or sometimes it is a complete washout for the day. Please know that we ALWAYS do our best to provide the players as much court time as possible. The RW team and the pros at each facility work in conjunction to make this all happen. The worst case scenario is when it rains us out on Sunday and we obviously do not have the time to make up the matches. We must not only keep in mind the players who are wanting to play, but also the players who have already made travel plans for later in the day. If this circumstance does happen, we sincerely apologize, as it is not the way we would like our events to end. As much as we would like to give refunds or even partial refunds, it simply does not calculate out for us to be able to do that as our expenses are locked in for the weekend. We hope all of you can understand!

One unavoidable thing in all events, especially some of our larger tournaments are defaults. We try as hard as possible to prevent these but people get hurt or things happen out of their control and certainly ours. We always do our best to backfill missing teams, but it is obviously a difficult task on such short notice. If you are one of the unfortunate players to get a default (it will happen), just know we are disappointed as well.

The Racquet War experience, besides the competitive tennis, is a fun weekend with friends filled with exciting events, lots of laughs, and a memorable time overall."

Draws Available

Womens and Mixed Doubles. (Since we are not running the tournament by NTRP levels, all levels are allowed.)

How Double Teams Can Be Formed?

All teams are made up of just two people. You and your partner will play all your matches together for the entire weekend. One of the best part of Racquet War's waterfall format is the ability for players to partner up with anyone at any level. For example, if you have a NTRP USTA 3.0 rating and want to play with a good friend of yours who has a NTRP USTA 4.5 rating you can do so. The format (described below) of the tournament ends up putting you and your partner in the correct bracket for your level.

Tournament Format

All teams will start out in a waterfall bracket (see example of a waterfall bracket on the Rules and Regulations page found below). In the waterfall bracket, all teams will play two 8 game no-ad pro sets to determine each doubles team competitive levels. After the two rounds of 8 game pro sets each team will play a minimum of two regular scoring matches with a tiebreaker used as a 3rd set if needed. With this unique format, players do not have to worry about NTRP rating and can partner up with whoever they wish. All double teams end up playing against other double teams of similar skill in their final bracket. Players will only have the option of playing in one draw, Womens or Mixed Doubles, as that in itself will be a ton of tennis for the weekend.
